about

You think Raging Wrath was a forgotten gem? Well hold on to your hat…

In 1988, my buddy and I stopped by Dimple Records. I checked out the local section and bought a demo tape there of a band I had never heard of because it looked like it might be up my alley and because it was cheap. Blind guesses like this seldom are so well rewarded.

The riffs here are on par with classic early works by Metal Church or Megadeth; catchy and executed with precision. Just jaw droppingly fun stuff. Some of the lyrics are pissed off and serious - In Criminal Apprehension, Manny describes a family member's experience with the military police - while others had us rolling. We played this tape to death.

MM disbanded shortly after this demo and then reformed some years later. They put out another release, but that was in a more modern style, and my own taste for metal had become very specific, so it didn’t grab me in the same way. You can find it on Youtube, and if you’re a real metalhead, you’ll probably dig it. But for me, this recording is special. It’s one of maybe a dozen thrash albums I still enjoy to this day.

Somehow this tape survived 35+ years and dozens of moves across the US and overseas. Most of my possessions are lost in much less time. I took that as a sign and sent it to my longtime engineer, Steve Glaze at Tonefreq, to work whatever magic is possible from an ancient, well worn and abused cassette. The result is what you have here.

This is not a WD release. No payment is asked or accepted for these files, which comes at a cost of reduced exposure, meaning that Bandcamp buries free releases posted from 2022 onward, so It will not show up anywhere on the site outside of my page. If you dig this work, please share it. Put it on file sharing, post links on your socials, burn CDs and send them to fake names at random addresses in faraway places. No permission required or desired.

Manny Bravo and Adam Splatum, I’m forever grateful that you guys created this art, put in the effort to commit it to tape, and released it for all to enjoy.
